SHORT DESCRIPTION ABOUT MALNAD SOCIAL SERVICE SOCIETY (MSSS)
Malnad Social Service Society (MSSS) is the official organization for social concern and
development of Syro - Malabar Diocese of Bhadravathi. It is registered under government of
Karnataka society registration act 1960, with the registration number no.219/SOR/SMG/90-91. The
operational area of MSSS covers two civil districts of Karnataka state viz Shimoga and
Chikamagalur. MSSS began its social work in a charity mode and gradually shifted to welfare and
developmental modes. At present MSSS is focusing on education, health and human development
activities including empowerment of rural poor, through the process of sensitization, capacity
building, training and exposure with an integrated, need based and right based approaches. MSSS
is giving importance to sustainable livelihood development of the rural families and caters to the
needs of the people living with HIV/ AIDS. Our mission is; “to have life, life in its fullness.” Our vision
is; ‘a society living in dignity, love, truth, justice and happiness’. Our goal is the integral development
of all sections of people especially the poor and the marginalized. Our thrust areas are; education,
family, health, sustainable livelihood, protection of child rights, Women’s rights – gender care and
protection of the people living with HIV/AIDS, vocational skill development, promotion of good
governance, focus groups, children, youth, marginalized women, small and marginal farmers,
landless laborers, people living with HIV/AIDS and their families. Our approach, right based, result
based, need / issue based, integrated- community focused, gender sensitive & environment
sensitive.
